I have a crush...

On the Louis Vuitton Resort Collection 2011.  Its cocktail meets mod meets lush fabrics meets feminine silhouettes.  Its less beach, more leather driving gloves. A girl can dream.

An Un-Tacky Halloween

My apologies for the lack of posts lately....school has taken over my life! However, with my Halloween birthday coming up this weekend, I wanted to do a post on one of my favorite holidays of the year, and how to best avoid tacky plastic decor and an abundance of cheap looking cob webs!  Happy Halloween...

Music Obsessions: Lissie

I've been on the hunt for new artists in the past few weeks as my music collection needed a major pick me up.  I've discovered another amazing female artist called Lissie who has an amazing, raspy, powerful voice that mixes folk with electro, country, rock, indie...she's a little bit of everything, thats what I love.  After releasing an amazing cover of Gaga's 'Bad Romance,' Lissie's music began to be discovered with help from bloggers like Perez Hilton.  Her album 'Catching a Tiger,' released in August 2010, is near perfect.  Check her out on itunes!

Music Obsessions: Ellie Goulding

I'm loving Ellie Goulding, an up and coming artist from the UK who, after much success in Europe is beginning to be discovered by electro-pop infused music lovers in North America.  Her voice and sound is so fresh and unique.  I've been listening to "the writer" and "starry eyed" on repeat all summer.  Check out her debut album "Lights" available on Itunes, which was released in March.

Online Shopping

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am addicted to shopping online.  However, in my defense, I always find better deals and unique and interesting pieces that I couldn't find in stores, especially up here in Canada where unique pieces are almost always overly expensive and not always wearable through any season.  At any given time, you'll find me procrastinating school work by browsing fashion clothing websites.  Here are a few of my favorites...

ASOS Woman is the UK's largest independent online fashion and beauty retailer.  They have over 35,000 pieces from hundreds of designers as well as their house label 'ASOS'.  A particular favorite section of this site is the 'clearance' or 'outlet' section where you can find amazing deals all year round.  Prices are available in a number of currencies and standard shopping to Canada costs as little as $6 and your goods will arrive within 8 business days.  ASOS also offers a plus size/curvy line called ASOS Curve available in sizes 20-26 with fabulous pieces that are great quality.

Forever 21 Canada is another great site for inexpensive pieces.  Although the quality is not always incredible, if your looking for trendy pieces to wear for just one season this is a great place to find them.  A great thing about this website is their Faith 21 curvy line for sizes 12-18.  My friends and I often get together and place orders because if you order $75 or more you get free shipping!

Recently, a friend told me about Haute Look which is a website that offers discounts of 50 to 75 percent off designer brands.  They send you an email everyday with items that are 50-80% off regular prices, everything from clothes to watches to skincare.  I haven't tried it yet but my friend swears by it!

Welcome to Lipsticks and Lace!

Welcome to Lipsticks and Lace!  As we say goodbye to summer and with Autumn just around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time to begin my first blog, focusing on fashion, music, cuisine and daily musings-all things I love and want to share with other people!  I'll be posting about all of the above as well as my travels and hobbies I pick up along the way.

Stay Tuned!
